Bears Give Andy Dalton Chance to Show He Not Andy Dalton
By Mitchell Trachtenberg
LAKE FOREST, IL - Last week, Matt Nagy confirmed that he will be giving Andy Dalton, the 11th year veteran out of TCU, the opportunity to show he is not Andy Dalton, the 11th year veteran out of TCU.
“We really believe here that the Andy Dalton that you all have seen since 2011 is not the Andy Dalton we picked up, nor has he ever been that Andy Dalton,” said Coach Nagy.
Known throughout his career as an efficient-at-best game manager, the Andy Dalton that fans generally think of when they hear the name “Andy Dalton” struggled to break out, despite the first round pick the Bengals spent on him, and has never made it past the Wild Card round of the playoffs. However, this Bears coaching staff insists that “this” Andy Dalton is good enough to supplant their Ohio State superstar first round pick, Justin Fields.
Offensive coordinator Bill Lazor, who coached Andy Dalton for three years in Cincinnati, insists that “Andy Dalton” is different.
"Fact of the matter is, he just is. And everybody will see."
However, General Manager Ryan Pace confirmed that if at any point Andy Dalton looks like Andy Dalton, then Fields will take over as starter.
