CHICAGO, IL - Shuttering its doors and closing its free sample kiosks in October of 2018, the loss of Treasure Island has weighed heavily on the hearts of Chicagoans city wide. The love for that grocery store lives on and local developers wanted to capitalize on that nostalgia. After a few modifications, Treasure Island is set to become the first open floor plan apartment building.

"We haven't updated a damn thing,” said general contractor Peter Borisson. "But we have put down masking tape labeling the new 'living districts' of the old supermarket. We'll be billing for that."

The radical change is thanks to a zoning loophole that allows the building to become a 38,000 square foot, 1 bedroom, 3 bath apartment with a maximum capacity of 1,500 residents. Tenants are expected to start moving in to new sub-neighborhoods, 'MeatSliceCounter' and 'ExpressLane' as soon as next week.

"Rent is low and I've never felt closer to my neighbors," said Jeff of Frozengoods. "Last night I invited Linda and Tawny from Dairy over for cards and they didn't even need to get up.

The apartment comes fully furnished with 1,500 cots and nothing else. With its prime location next to Second City, building management has encouraged tenants to simply pretend its the next big step in communal living.
