After days of negotiations, Bears fans finally have some clarity on the reasons behind GM Ryan Pace’s desire to land Carson Wentz.  According to a statement from Halas Hall, Ryan Pace and Coach Matt Nagy believe a trade for a franchise QB with a proven track record could be enough to convince Deshaun Watson to come to Chicago.

“With all the chaos down in Houston, I imagine Watson is itching to go to a winning football team,” Pace said to a smiling and nodding Matt Nagy. “We have known for the past 4 years that overpaying in a trade for a sure-fire franchise QB is the perfect statement that a team is trying to win. By making Carson Wentz are QB, we can prove to Deshaun Watson that we mean business."

With Nagy and Pace on the hot seat and pressure to win boiling over, the Bears' front office has been on a mission to recruit the 24 year old Watson to be the new face of the franchise. In an interview on Wednesday, Pace made it clear that if acquiring Wentz doesn't win Watson over, even more moves are on the table.

"We're looking to pair Wentz up with 3 or 4 other veteran QBs, like Teddy Bridgewater or Marcus Mariota, to impress Deshaun," said Pace. "We are willing to spend all of our draft picks to build a roster that lets Watson know we're Super Bowl or bust."

As of press time, Ryan Pace was reportedly exploring whether the Panthers would be willing to trade the rights to Vinny Testaverde in exchange for a 2028 1st rounder.
