Harold's Mild Sauce Actually a Little Spicy, Says Suburban Dad
By Patrick Reilly
PALATINE, IL - Following a visit to the iconic Chicago chicken restaurant, local father Nathan Thompson reported that he found Harold’s Chicken mild sauce to be “a little spicy, actually.”
Thompson was picking up his brother-in-law from Midway Airport when he brought the family to the Marquette Park location of Harold’s Chicken, where he first encountered the iconic sauce. Mild sauce - a combination of ketchup, barbecue sauce, and a dash of hot sauce - is a staple of Chicago cuisine.
“I know they call it mild sauce, but it has a bit of a kick,” Thompson reportedly said after taking a bite of the fried chicken and doing that thing where you breathe through your teeth rapidly. Sources say he was heard to remark, “Hoo boy” and “really clears out your sinuses”.
Although he says the experience was not altogether unpleasant, Thompson doubts he will try the sauce again. “It was a bit much for me. If I want the authentic African American dining experience again, I’ll just stick to Popeye’s. Have you had their biscuits? Yum.”
